The Analogy of Juxtaposition

Well let me refresh back my memories about Juxtaposition, it is a placed in nearness, contiguity, or side by side as a juxtaposition of words. The act of juxtaposing is to place two objects or words next to each other and when both of them is put side by side, our brain try to figure what is the relationship between that two objects. Conflict happens between the Left Brain and the Right Brain and creates an analogy consists of metaphor and similes.

Metaphor is a figure of speech which consists of two different things that are linked by some similarity. The comparison that shows it is obvious are not consider as metaphors. Therefore, there are metaphors occur when the two different ideas are being connected to imaginative ways and agreed to be dissimilar at first.

Similes are two images that bring the same meaning and are connected to each other and the two description of the two images are combined using 'as' or 'like'.

These are the few examples that is related to either metaphor of similes:

Love is like a chili,
When it's gets spicy,
it makes you getting hotter and hotter,
even a glass of water can't cool it down.

Happiness can be represented by the clocks,
as hours goes by,
happiness will always be there around you,
to avoid from having negative or sad moments.

Man or Woman is like a mortar and pestle,
It is as hard as a rock,
and whenever a problem occurs,
it will never run away from it,
and choose to solve it.

Juxtaposition

What is Juxtaposition? It is defined as placing two variable on side by side and their contrast are shown through a comparison. Most of the creative comparison processes rely on juxtaposition by placing two objects or words next to each other, therefore human brain will automatically associate or transfer meaning and usually 'turning' something familiar to something that is less familiar or vice-versa.

Juxtaposition may refer to:
1) Juxtaposition in literacy which is synonymous with contrast that is two objects
or texts that
oppose one another.
In linguistics and semantics, contrast is a relationship between two discourse segments and it
often marked by markers such as 'but' or 'however'.
The majority of the studies done on
contrast and contrastive relations in semantics has focused on characterizing. Semantics
also concentrated on identifying what distinguished clauses joined by 'and' and 'but'. In
discourse theory and computational discourse, contrast is a major discourse relation with
relationship like explanation or narration and work that has concentrated on trying to identify
contrast. Therefore in literature and film, juxtaposition is the arrangement of two opposing
ideas, characters, objects, etc. either side-by-side or in similar narratives for effects. The
techniques are used to further in develop the storyline or characters. Then it is applied
variously to opposing emotions, abstract concepts, character traits or images.

2) Random juxtaposition which is two random objects moving in parallel, that is a
technique intended to stimulate creativity.
Random juxtaposition is the process that requires the introduction of a completely random
stimulus which is juxtaposed with the problem in hand. The connection that develops between
the two may serve to give emphasis to the side track. Maybe the ideas generated are not a
specially strong idea, but it does illustrate the sort of idea that could not come directly from
analysis of the situation itself. Similar to oxymoron.

These are the few examples of juxtaposition that happens around us.

This is a two CD cover combination of a famous male singer, Tanni at the top part and a semi-naked female at the middle part. Once this two images combined, it shows a full length of a human from the head to the leg. But when we take a look closer to it, it gives us an impression that it looks like an bisexual human being. This is because when this two images is juxtaposed, it shows another meaning to us. Therefore juxtaposition is able to create something other that what is showed.

This is another combination of two objects that is not related at all but when it comes to juxtaposition, the both objects has something related to each other. For example, the barrel contains toxic waste in it so means it is dangerous and very poisonous and the same time the sign board beside it shows that the beach is closed and avoid any water contact. So when the two objects is placed together, it brings meaning that the water level at the beach is polluted by the toxic waste caused by irresponsible people using the toxic waste barrels, therefore a sign is located along the beach telling us the beach is closed due to it.

Creative Buildings

In this world, there are many things that are creative than what you aspect that can make you amused on it. For example in the picture above, do you think that there will be a house like this around your neighborhood? Maybe there are but in a very rare situation. Therefore i can say that this house is design in a creative way because it can attract people's attention and at the same time be the special one among other people and maybe in the future there will be people who likes your design and will your design as a complement. So there are a few examples of houses or buildings that has the similar characteristics as the picture above.

This is a apartment design that looks like a picnic basket and it gives the
residents inside the feel of staying inside the basket.

This is a small house that looks like a teapot. Even though it is small in size but
in design concept is not small and is suitable for a single owner.

This is a picture of a building that looks crooked and wants to fall down. This gives an
like it is going to fall down and it looks like not safe to stay inside it.

Creative Advertisments

Advertisement is a form of communication intended to persuade an audience such as viewers, readers or listeners to purchase or take some action upon products, ideals or services. It includes the name of a product or service and how that product or service could benefit the consumer, to persuade a target market to purchase or to consume that particular brand. Besides, it also serve to communicate an idea to a mass amount of people in an attempt to convince them to take a certain action.

Do you see nowadays in television or websites that shows funny or annoying advertisements? Well the purpose of these advertisements is to make the audience or listeners to refresh their mood or release their stress from outside. Then by watching these videos, it gives them a cheer feeling and relief for the whole day.

These are few examples of creative advertisements that is creative:

This is a short video clip from Thailand I feeling is funny and a bit annoying

This is a short advertisement from Thailand too and it is hilarious.

In conclusion, there are many other creative advertisements that will attract others' attention and there should be more and more videos like this in the future.

Logical Mind Map on Mortar and Pestle

This week we are given a task using the logical mind map to create a mind map using mortar and pestle as the the main idea. By using that, we have to generate more and more ideas that is related to mortar and pestle. It is a fun task to do because we can get funny ideas that are not related to the real use of mortar and pestle. This means we get ideas that is a mortar and pestle can do besides pawn foods.

Both of the items can create a gaming controller
set by using pestle as the joystick and mortar as
the base of the controller.

The pestle can be used as a weapon for self defense.

It can be used as spinning top where the mortar act as
head and pestle as the bottom part to let it keep spinning.

It also can be used as an umbrella to protect
us from the rain.

The mortar is used as the weight while the pestle as the stick to
combine both side of the mortar.
The mortar also can be made into variety types of hat or caps to protect
us from the sunlight.

Creative Cars

So have you seen this care on the road at your place before? No right? Well this is what we called creative design in automobile. This picture is specially designed just to attract the public attention. It has the design of a huge mouth at the front area of the car and when it's closed it will look like just a normal car. Why this type of cars are seldom found on the road? This is because not everyone are interested to design something out of the box. They would rather keep it to it's original design. Besides, I think this car is creative because it can attracts the attention on the road. It makes them feel that they are the only owner that has this kind of car on the road.

This is another image of a car with a unique design in a creative way. I feel this car is creative because it has the design of a pyramid at the especially at the roof top area and if it looks from far, it's like the shape of a box. So this will attracts the public's attention by looking at this car. Besides, not only the body shape is creative, but also the front light of the car is creative because the light of the car looks more like a torchlight and maybe this design is more convenient to the driver itself. Maybe the light is so much brighter than the normal car. Not only that, this car is also capable to fit 1 person only that is the driver itself. So the car will be lighter and it can move faster than a normal car. On the other hand, in my opinion this car is designed not only creative but it can change the design of a motorcycle in a better way. This will reduce the amount of motorcycles and at the same time reduce the amount of motorcycle accidents.

This is also a creative car with a futuristic design. I like the design because it gives me the impression of an elegance car and when it is driven on the road, sure all eyes will looking at me. Besides, the design is aerodynamic so that it can move even faster than an ordinary car and it will save more fuel in the future.

This is a design from BMW Auto Bavaria that it doesn't look like a car but it is a car. I call this car creative because the design is not look like a car but it is a car. So it gives the public an impression of a creative design that will impress them. So this will attract them to purchase their products and at the same increase their reputation.

In conclusion, this is four images is mainly the reason why it is design in this way and it has the element of creative into design that will guide them to design more and better design in the future.

Mind Maps

The way where we can create a mind map from that is using creative thinking. Therefore creative thinking is divided into two sections: divergent thinking and convergent thinking.

Divergent Thinking
A thought process of method used to generate new creative ideas by exploring many possible solutions. It is often used in conjunction with convergent thinking, which follows a particular set of logical steps to arrive at one decided solution. Besides, it typically occurs in a spontaneous, free-flowing manner, at the end that ideas are generated in a random. Many possible solutions are explored in a short time so unexpected connections are drawn away. So ideas and information are organized and structured using convergent thinking.

This is an example mind map of how the
method of divergent thinking is used and generated.

Convergent Thinking
This method a term coined by Joy Paul Guilford as the opposite of divergent thinking. It means convergent is the ability to give the correct answer to a standard question that do not require significant creativity. For example in most task either in school or on standardized multiple-choice tests for intelligence.

This image shows how convergent thinking method is used
in providing information.

Mind Mapping
Introduced by Tony Buzan and mind mapping is a great tool for generating ideas and brainstorm at the same time. It will enhance the both sides of the human brain and widely used in jotting down notes, doing research and generating new ideas. Therefore a creative Mind Map is able to stimulate and create interest to the individual and also to the viewer.

Logical Mind Map
Based on Wikipedia.com, a logical mind map is a diagram used to represent words, ideas, tasks, or other items linked to and arranged around a central keyword or idea. Mind map is used to explore and develop ideas for a specific problem, use it to think, take notes during discussion and summarize books and papers. We can identify, prove and understand the structure of a subject. Mind maps encourage creative problem solving, summarizing information, and thinking through a complex or difficult problems.

Associated Mind Map
It is a mind map that enables us to generate a random words out of a thousand words for example and also show the links between the words that seemingly totally have no connections with each other. The human brain is very different from a computer, whereas a computer works only in a linear fashion, but the brain works associatively as well as linearly in comparing, integrating and synthesizing as it goes.Association plays a dominant role in nearly every mental function, and words themselves are no exception.

Stereotype
A stereotype is a commonly held public belief about specific social groups or types of individuals. The concept of "stereotype" and "prejudice" are often confused with many other different meanings. Therefore, stereotypes are standardized and simplified conception of groups based on some prior assumptions. Stereotypes are not based on objective truth but rather on subjective and sometimes unverifiable content-matter. In another word, stereotype is also a conventional, formulaic, and oversimplified on conception, opinion

Well, this a simple mind map about myself. Even though i arranged it not according to order, but yet you can start to view it according to you because no matter where you start, it will give you the same information. As you see the mind map, I have only stated three parts that represents myself that is About Me, Personality and Interest.
So when I started to do this mind map, firstly I will gather all the information about myself. Then after choosing the best points that represents me more, I will group it into a smaller group so this time will be lesser points. After tat, I search for images that represent my characteristics and start to design my mind map. The reason why I arranged like that is because it won't look messy and it is easier to read even from a far distance. At the end, I inserted images that has the same meaning with the points so it won't make my mind map looks boring with words only. In conclusion this mind map is all about myself and it looks very simple compare to other mind maps.

Disadvantages of Internet

The Internet is a global system of interconnected computer networks that use the standard Internet Protocol Suite (TCP/IP) to serve billions of users worldwide. It is a network of networks that consists of millions of private, public, academic, business, and government networks of local to global scope that are linked by a broad array of electronic and optical networking technologies. The Internet carries a vast array of information resources and services, most notably the inter-linked hypertext documents of the World Wide Web (WWW) and the infrastructure to support electronic mail.

Most traditional communications media, such as telephone and television services, are reshaped or redefined using the technologies of the Internet, giving rise to services such as Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP) and IPTV. Newspaper publishing has been reshaped into Web sites, blogging, and web feeds. The Internet has enabled or accelerated the creation of new forms of human interactions through instant messaging, Internet forums, and social networking sites.

As we all know, internet provides us with a lot of information for us from all over the world. For example, we can get the latest news about what is happening around the world and it's updated. So we won't be left out from what is happening around us. Therefore, internet news are more faster than other social media. Besides that, media such as facebook or twitter can also provide us the latest news on what is happening. For example, if we have any latest news to share with everyone, we can post it at our wall so that anyone that is interested can see it.

On the other hand, internet not only has it's advantages, it also has disadvantages that will make other people misunderstand about an issue. For example, like what is happening around us now, as we know we can get the latest news from internet sites but there are a few people who like to vandalize it by creating own story to satisfy the readers. For example, there is a person who creates national news at websites and there people who really believes it. This is because there no protection on websites where it can blocks unknown writers from posting any unwanted news at the websites.

In conclusion, i do not often believe what is on the Internet as truth without thinking much about it because I had experience it for the first time where i receive news from my friends at facebook where they wrote there will be a earthquake happening in an hour time. So i was really into that news until I believe it that it will really happen in that period time. But after that one hour, I don't feel any effects of earthquake so I asked my friends why there are no earthquakes. Therefore they answered, they got the news from an unknown person but not the official news website. So from that time onwards I realize that I was being cheated by an unknown person. So in the coming time, we must not believe what news that is on the internet unless it is checked properly. If not we will be the victim of misunderstanding.
